Legal services

Legal services of the firm focused on serving companies and institutions

In today's fast-paced world, the demand for directional legal services. In view of the enormity of the legal regulations concerning various spheres of social and economic life, it is impossible to be a specialist in all areas of law.

Therefore, the market for legal services is changing. Chambers accepting any type of case is slowly becoming a thing of the past and is being replaced by those that have geared themselves towards serving a specific range of clients, have specialised or re-branded themselves, and are using new technologies and implementing effective management systems combined with the ability to communicate clearly with clients.

This is a consequence of ever-changing legislation and constant amendments, which are sometimes impossible to keep up with, and to which technological progress and the intensive development of the market economy make a significant contribution.

Developments in the legal services market are also the consequence of clients' expectations becoming more and more complex and going beyond the typical legal framework. Business advice, strategic decision-making and planning consultancy are just some of them. As a result, more and more is being demanded of lawyers, which, on the one hand, increases their field of activity and, on the other, maximises the concentration of a range of services in one place.

The expectations of today's business clients are most understandable. This is why some law firms focus primarily on legal services for entrepreneurs from various sectors of the economy, in particular the construction, fuel, energy, automotive and manufacturing industries. Such services are aimed at supporting business interests both in the dimension of internal activities of the company - such as organisational matters, restructuring or relations between partners - and in the external dimension - related to cooperation with other entities participating in business transactions.

What are legal services really about in the modern world?

In view of the gradual expansion of scope of legal services, it is not always as simple and obvious to determine whether a particular service has the character of a legal service as it might seem. Classifications issued on the basis of regulations on public statistics, which provide a kind of reference point in this respect, may prove helpful in this respect. Thus, according to the Polish Classification of Business Activity, legal activity classified in section M, division 69 (code 69.10.Z) includes, inter alia, representation before courts or other authorities, legal advice, provision of consultations, preparation of legal documentation such as: statutes, regulations, contracts, registration documents, as well as those concerning patents and copyrights.

It is important to note that in order to perform the activities described in the first point, one must have not only legal knowledge but also special professional qualifications. Legal representation services are reserved for advocates and legal advisers only. Lawyers unqualified advocate be legal adviser can advise on out-of-court matters, draft contracts or provide legal opinions. However, they do not have the ability to appear before courts and authorities as trial attorneys and therefore will not conduct a case before a court.

That is why services of good law firms are practical services, adapted to the real needs of modern business.

How much do legal services cost?

The cost of legal services depends on the type and complexity of the case. The most commonly used billing models are:
- hourly rate - the client pays for the lawyer's actual time,
- lump sum - a fixed amount per case or package of services,
success fee - an additional fee if the case is successfully concluded.

The first consultation usually allows the scope of the action to be assessed and cost estimates to be provided, giving the client clarity even before the collaboration starts.

At our law firm, we only provide fee-based services. In addition to paid legal services, there is a system in Poland of free legal aidThe programme is financed from the state budget. It can be used by, among others:

Barrister versus solicitor - what are the differences?

Although the competences of barristers and solicitors are now very similar, they have traditionally performed different roles.
Advocate acted more frequently as defence counsel in criminal cases.
Legal adviser specialised mainly in business and civil litigation.

Today, both professions can provide virtually the same range of legal services - so the most important thing is the experience and specialisation of the lawyer concerned.

How do I prepare for my first meeting with a lawyer?

To get the most out of a legal consultation, it is worthwhile:
- take all documents relating to the case,
